Application
The most preferred conductors for relatively short spans, especially for low and medium voltage distribution lines, are the All-Aluminum Conductors. Their popularity primarily stems from their capacity to carry a given current at the lowest capital cost. However, it is important to note that this cost analysis doesn’t encompass the entire line, including factors such as poles, lower heights, spans, wind and ice loads, and so on. When taking these elements into account, the limiting factor becomes the relatively low strength-to-weight ratio of the all-aluminum conductor.
